Healing takes time

I know it’s not fun, but it’s true. Healing takes time.

Our bodies will go through different phases on our healing journey and some will be more enjoyable than others.

In this podcast episode, I talked a lot about dealing with weight gain and body image issues while healing. We did a whole podcast episode with @fallondanae on this–I highly recommend listening if you haven’t already.

One of the biggest questions I get in response to this podcast episode is how long will it be like this? And honestly, it really depends. The most annoying answer on the planet.

What does it depend on? Mainly, your health history. Everything that has happened to you up until this point will help you better understand what your healing timeline will be like.

One exercise to help with this is The Stress Journey exercise I have inside the Master Your Minerals course. A big part of understanding your hair test results and current response to stress is looking back at the stress you’ve endured your whole life.

The goal is to write down all of the possible stressors you had during each phase of life. It allows you to see what your body has been through and help you have some compassion and grace for the time it’s taking to heal.

I find this especially helpful when our bodies are holding onto more fat than we would like. I do want to mention that body fat is not bad. It’s actually really important for us, especially women. It stores energy and toxins, protects our organs, and allows us to feel safe.

I often see women that have been dealing with chronic stress holding onto a higher level of body fat longer. This makes sense. Their bodies need a little more time to regulate and create that safety.

If you haven’t done this exercise while healing, I highly recommend it!
