Do you feel like you’ve tried everything on your healing journey? You’ve done all the supplements, testing, tried all the diets, etc. but still haven’t been able to resolve a lot of your symptoms?
Sometimes the thing that needs the most support is our brain. On this episode of the Are You Menstrual? Podcast, I talk with Theresa Piela, owner of @livingrootswellness and brain rewiring coach, about what it means to rewire the brain and who it’s best for.
I truly think anyone can benefit from brain rewiring. Still, it can be especially helpful for those struggling with chronic health conditions, mold exposure, past trauma, gut issues, or those with a history of restrictive dieting/elimination diets and food fears.
So what is brain rewiring? Theresa describes the process of brain rewiring as the following:
“With intentional and deliberate practice, we can actually train the brain to soften its guard and drop its warrior-like armor. By softening and expanding where we place our awareness, we can send new impulses of repair and replenishment, which then triggers rippling signals of health throughout the body.”
Many of us are struggling with our brains forecasting for us and trying to predict how we will feel, which can lead to worsening symptoms and more fatigue. We talk about these limbic system loops in more detail in the podcast episode. This part really stuck with me since I think we can all relate to those stories we tell ourselves.
Another big part of brain rewiring is understanding trauma. You may have heard of trauma being defined as big T and little T. I really enjoyed Theresa’s perspective on the most important part about trauma being our body’s response to the event.
reminder: i’m currently taking on 1:1 clients. if you’d like to explore what it would be like to work together and if we are a good fit, fill out this form to get more details!
