I mentioned that I take shilajit most days a while back and got flooded with questions, so I thought I would do a post breaking down what shilajit is and why it can be beneficial for many.
Shilajit is a mineral-rich resin that most commonly comes from mountain tops in the Himalayas and is traditionally used in Eastern cultures for its medicinal properties.
Why shilajit? This ancient mineral complex has been used in Eastern cultures for over 3,000 years and is valued for so much more than its mineral content.
Not only does shilajit contain over 84 trace minerals, but it also contains fulvic acid, which contributes to many of shilajit’s benefits.
Fulvic acid is a huge part of why shilajit is so medicinal. It helps improve the absorption of nutrients making them more bioavailable. Fulvic acid has also been shown to support our immune system.
Fulvic acid has also been researched in heavy metal removal and helping clean out our cells.
A big part of why I like using shilajit myself and with clients is because of how it impacts our metabolism. The abundance of minerals supports metabolism. The fulvic acid in shilajit has also been shown to improve oxygen and nutrient delivery to our cells, which helps us make more energy. This often translates to better energy levels and improved cognitive function.
I personally feel best when I take shilajit after having a good meal and enjoy the energy and cognitive perks, especially on busy days.
