Stress Equals Energy Loss

When the body is under stress, it uses up more energy in order to carry out our stress response and give us the best chance at responding to whatever the threat is.

Many of us are already dealing with slowed energy production aka a slow metabolism. This is often related to chronic mental or physical stress, under nourishment, and suboptimal levels of vitamins and minerals that impact energy production like vitamin A, magnesium, copper, and calcium.

We will never avoid all stress and having acute positive stressors is actually a good thing. I don’t think it’s realistic or helpful to avoid all stress. What I find helpful is working on habits that will help you be more resilient to stress and avoid unnecessary stress.

5 ways that I like to minimize stress:
Eating within 30-60 minutes of waking.
Prepping/planning meals—this has been more important than ever with a new baby.
Prioritizing fruit as a source of carbohydrates and minerals.
Breathing through my nose and avoiding mouth breathing. I use mouth tape for this at night.
Going to bed when it’s dark or soon after.
