With endometriosis, similar tissue can be found on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, rectum, bladder, and intestines. 10% of women in the world have endometriosis. Because getting a diagnosis can be difficult since it requires exploratory surgery, this number is likely much higher.
One of the most important things I discussed with Cindy from @endo.fertility.dietitian in this podcast episode was the hallmarks of endometriosis. The hallmarks outline four areas that specifically impact how endometriosis develops and grows in the body, and they are immune system dysfunction, progesterone resistance, estrogen dominance, and inflammation.
Understanding these is important for understanding what could be exacerbating your specific case of endo and how to improve it. Estrogen is a huge focus for endometriosis, but it’s truly so much deeper.
Another important topic we covered is common food restrictions with endometriosis (scroll through the images above to see). If you do any web search for nutrition for endometriosis, you will likely come up with many resources that tell you to eliminate a long list of foods. This can be overwhelming, especially for those struggling with fatigue and chronic pain from the condition, and I also find it very unnecessary. Optimizing digestion and the systems that impact endo can allow you to see improvements without food restriction. It’s also much more important to focus on what you are eating than what you’re not.
Hair Testing & Endo
We also discussed hair testing and how looking at your mineral status can help you customize nutrition and supplements to support your body and reduce symptoms.
If you want to learn more about hair testing and how to get more support with your endometriosis you can join my course master your minerals. I have an entire section of the course dedicated to this topic to help women get real answers on how to support their bodies who struggle with endometriosis.
