Gelatin & Digestion

In this post I want to expand a bit more on why I intentionally choose to eat gelatin on a regular basis.

One of the main reasons is because of how gelatin improves our ability to digest food.⁣

One particularly fascinating thing about gelatin is its ability to attract and hold liquids.

This allows it to attract digestive juices that help us break down our food to the foods we are eating the gelatin with. ⁣

With more digestive juices present (especially bile and stomach acid), that food gets broken down better, which means we absorb the nutrients in those foods better. More nutrients = better overall and hormone health.

When foods aren’t broken down properly, we are left with large food particles that slow digestion and lead to inflammation in the gut. ⁣

⁣One other fun fact about gelatin is its ability to spare protein, meaning reducing how much of our muscle is broken down for protein. Eating enough protein, fat, and carb also does this, but it’s especially interesting how gelatin is even more proficient at this action than fat and carbs are.
