Boron Increases Magnesium Absorption

Boron increases the amount of magnesium we absorb. Magnesium is essential for over 3,000 reactions in the body. It’s a powerful mineral, but so is boron.

You can get the benefits of both by combining them for a relaxing bath or foot soak. Typically, you want 2 cups of magnesium chloride or epsom salt for a bath or 1 cup for a foot soak.

When it comes to boron, starting with 1tsp and working up to 1-2 tbsp is ideal. One teaspoon of borax powder* contains about 4 grams of borax, so ¼ teaspoon contains about 1 gram of borax. One gram of borax is 11.3% boron. So ¼ teaspoon of borax has approximately 113 mg of boron. We don’t absorb all of this, so you won’t overdo it with a bath or foot soak.

Not sure if boron is for you? Talk with your provider. The best way to test is through hair mineral analysis.

Learn more about boron in this podcast episode from the Are Your Menstrual? Podcast.

*Borax powder contains boron (see description above), but I do not recommend ingesting borax. Not all borax powders are the same. You want to make sure it’s 100% borax. I like trace minerals liquid boron for oral supplementation. Always talk with your provider to see if a supplement is a good fit for you.

This post is sharing information regarding boron and is not medical advice. You can gain access to more information and research articles in the podcast episode I linked above.

In Master Your Minerals you can do the hair mineral analysis to look at all of your minerals including boron!
