3 Areas of Prep for Postpartum

On my postpartum episode from the Are You Menstrual? Podcast I go into our postpartum experience. I breakdown what the early days were like and go through our breastfeeding journey, Eliana’s oral restrictions, and answer common questions I get on things like libido, hair loss, cosleeping, and more!

Here are some of the things I have found helpful during my postpartum:

Staying nourished

  • Having freezer meals such as casseroles, shredded meats, cooked fruits, potatoes, and muffins will make sure you are staying fed while not having to stand in the kitchen and cook. Here is a great nursing muffin recipe.
  • Adrenal cocktails and hydration are super important during postpartum and breastfeeding. You can make this easy by getting a pitcher and making a large recipe of adrenal cocktails to last you for days. You can learn more about adrenal cocktails here.
  • Make a plan for food prepping, warming up meals, making the adrenal cocktails, etc. Think about how often you will need food and set expectations to keep things less stressful.

Make your guests useful

  • Make a list for your guests to help out for example, laundry, dishes, vacuum, walk the dogs, groceries, clean the bathroom, etc.

Think ahead to breastfeeding support

  • There are great resources for breastfeeding support and different ways to receive that support. Seek out these resources ahead of time so you are prepared.
